Do fancy features and gadgets really contribute to your happiness in a hom

  • Luxurious and expensive features of a home may be aesthetically pleasing and even serve as status symbols, but they have been shown to have a limited correlation with long-term satisfaction.

  • A study published in the Journal of Consumer Psychology found that materialistic pursuits, including the acquisition of luxury goods, were not significantly associated with greater life satisfaction or well-being. [Source: Kasser, T., & Ryan, R. M. (1993). 

  • So it pays to skimp on some aspects when building a house, since they don't contribute to happiness in the home anyway
